We don't usually stay on Freemont Street, but we decided to this time. All in all, it's still an okay deal if you can get weekends for less than $50 a nite (or Sun-Thurs for less that $35), but be aware that you will be getting an okay place to sleep, and that's about it. The brew pub is still very good, as are the micro brews. The casino is smallish but decent with lots and lots of full-pay video poker, and decent BJ rules and Craps odds. On the bright side, MSS is far enough away from the madness of the FSE, but close enough if that's your cup of tea. Also, the water pressure on the higher floors is iffy, and showers run hot and cold every few seconds during peak bathroom times, so asking for a lower floor might help avoid that. Ask for something facing the other direction if you are a light sleeper. Some rooms face the freeway and railroad tracks, and can be noisy. Make no mistake, these rooms are among the cheapest as far as hotels go in downtown, BUT since the upkeep has gone south, they used to be a much better deal. The casino and common areas are not noticeably more run down since our last stay, but the rooms have become pretty ratty, especially the bathrooms. She's gone downhill a lot over the last five years.
